Leaf Collection
During the period of October 1 and January 1 the City of Claremont will vacuum leaves raked to the curb, as time allows. The leaves should be free of rocks and sticks, which will damage the vacuum machine. Please do not place these leaves close to mailboxes, signs, or power poles. In months other than listed above leaves must be placed in bags and placed at the curb. Leaf bags can be purchased at City Hall at a cost of $2.00 for 10 bags.
For quicker pick up, please bag your leaves and yard waste. The truck runs Monday and Friday for these bags. It takes longer to get around with the leaf machine and problems do occur with the piece of equipment that gets us off schedule.
These collections are only on Monday and Friday.
Please call City Hall to arrange pick up.
Limb Collection
The City will periodically collect tree limbs of less than six feet in length and six inches in diameter. The limbs should be neatly stacked at the street for collection. The City will not collect limbs and branches that have been cut by a professional tree service. The contractors are responsible for their work.
Cut limbs must be cut ends toward the road and laid in one direction in a neat pile. The city crew will work 30-minutes at a time at each residence to pick up large piles of limbs, debris or leaves.
These collections are only on Monday and Friday.
Please call City Hall to arrange pick up.
Special Collections
Any property owner may request a special collection of loose matter. The items to be collected should be easily handled by two (2) men. No collection of large rocks, tree stumps, heavy appliances, or waste-building materials will be made.
You must call City Hall to arrange this pick up.
These pick ups will be made on Mondays and Fridays only.
Street Lighting
Duke Energy, under contract with the City of Claremont, provides street lighting. Each pole contains a streetlight that has an identifying number listed. If a streetlight is inoperative, please report the pole number and location to the Police Department at 459-9195 or City Hall at 459-7009. We will see that the light is repaired as soon as possible.

Garbage should be bagged or placed in a container, not exceeding 32 gallons of capacity. No bulk trash, leaves, shurb cuttings or limbs will be picked up, by GDS.

YARD WASTE
All of your yard waste must be in a CLEAR PLASTIC BAG when you place it at the curb side. The landfill will no longer take yard waste in a BLACK BAG.
To avoid any misunderstanding, please obtain some clear bags from a hardware or home center store. Be certain that the bags are clear not white. You must be able to see through the plastic.
Your tax dollars pay for the garbage service provided by GDS. Do not allow anyone to bring in their garbage from out of town to be collected with your garbage. If you are aware that this is happening, call City Hall and report it.
When this abuse takes place and your city crew has to spend their time to load it on the truck, it takes time away from collecting your trash.
Your understanding and assistance will be appreciated in helping the City to cut down on any of this abuse.
